Me. That’s right, I am. Ok, maybe not so much scared of the scale as married to it… for better or for worse.
Me. That’s right, I am. Ok, maybe not so much scared of the scale as married to it… for better or for worse. I’ve been “watching my weight” for years. Watching it yo-yo, that is. Can anyone identify? Anyone? I’ve done everything from the grapefruit diet (moment of collective insanity with a few friends), to Weight Watchers with PointsPlus, to five day a week gym marathons that just made me want to cry.
I like to think I’m a smart girl—I know about eating right and exercising. I’ve danced my whole life, even majoring in it in college, so I’m not afraid of moving. I have always been fascinated by nutrition, and I now get to work with so many fun and smart dietitians and health professionals here at Healthy Dining, who are always willing to help with my nutrition questions. I like good-for-me foods like barley and bulgur, spinach and beets, almost any kind of fruit (sorry Papaya
, not you), and lean proteins like salmon and tofu. I like to dance around with my kids (which should totally qualify as weight lifting when I pick them up to do it).
Ok, I have a slight
problem with emotional eating, and I may have a little
difficulty with moderation. Ha! Let’s face it, it is nearly impossible to stay focused on my weight loss goals when I’m staring down the frosting side of a chocolate cake, inhaling the cheesy, doughy tendrils of steam snaking out of a pizza box, or trying to drag myself out of bed at O-Dark-Thirty for a brisk and healthy morning workout!
So, I’m hoping you can help. Each week, I’m going to share my weight loss journey with you, and I hope that you’ll share yours with me. I’ll be writing about the ups and downs, the humor and the insanity that are all part of losing weight in the real world.
And food... Don’t forget about all that good, good food at home and in restaurants, because I wouldn’t dream of giving up going out to eat, especially when I’m looking at HealthyDiningFinder
I know that we all have unique stories, insights and tips for staying healthy and losing weight, and I’m looking forward to hearing yours in the weeks to come.
