Pizza restaurants like, Pizza Fusion, are offering healthier ingredients for a classic family favorite.
If you have kids in your life, you know meal time can sometimes be challenging, to say the least. The Kids LiveWell program, launched by the National Restaurant Association in conjunction with Healthy Dining, is helping to change that. Kids LiveWell
menu choices meet specific nutrition criteria as recommended by scientific guidelines of leading health organizations, verified by Healthy Dining’s team of registered dietitians. The Kids LiveWell choices are also fun, tasty and thoroughly kid-friendly.
Additional restaurants are joining the program each month, and we want you to know about them. Therefore, I will be regularly profiling participating Kids LiveWell restaurants and their Healthy Dining and Kids LiveWell choices, so you know where to go for menu choices the whole family can enjoy.
One of the most family-friendly meal choices is often pizza. It can be loaded with fresh, flavorful vegetables and tasty gourmet olives, cheeses, meats and more for the grown-ups; and it’s cheesy, doughy and can be eaten without the use of utensils – perfect for the kids. It also happens to be an easy choice for busy family meals. Pizza Fusion
, one of the newest additions to the Healthy Dining and Kids LiveWell programs, is taking the standard pizza to a whole new level with tasty, healthy and unique choices for everyone in the family. This chain, with locations in Florida, Colorado, Ohio and New Jersey, boasts:
Multi-grain crust available for each type of pizza
Primarily organic ingredients
Environmentally friendly boxes, utensils, plates and vehicles
Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options
When dining out at Pizza Fusion with kids, I would recommend the Bruschetta Pizza on Multi-Grain Crust (2 Slices of a Personal Pizza) with a side salad – Special Request. Bruschetta pizza is a good option for anyone who loves cheese pizza because it is still covered with provolone, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese but also has fresh tomatoes, onions and roasted garlic for the added nutrition we all need. For a more adventurous crowd, try the Founder’s Pie on Multi-grain crust. Two slices of a large pizza contain only 480 calories worth of free range chicken, kalamata olive, red onion and four cheese goodness.
Next time you dine out or need to pick up something for dinner on a busy night, remember that pizza can be a great option for everyone in the family.
Do you have pictures of you and the kids enjoying Healthy Dining and Kids LiveWell choices at a participating restaurant? We’d love to see them
