When you think of Sizzler, what come to mind are steaks, loaded baked potatoes, and my favorite: the all you can eat salad bar! At times, when trying to cut calories, we feel forced to choose between the spinach salad and the typical colorless iceberg wedge. Thankfully, Sizzler has made it easy by offering classic entrées that are figure friendly, posted on HealthyDiningFinder.com.  These great menu items allow you to choose healthier options without compromising taste and quality.

On the healthy dining menu tonight:

  • Salad Bar
  • 6 oz. Tri-Tip Steak + Broccoli [380 calories]
  • Grilled Salmon + Broccoli [390 calories]
  • Two Unsweetened Iced Teas + Lemon


Once we ordered our steak at the front counter, I considered ordering an additional item because I figured 6 ounces was too small for a steak portion. The server arrived promptly with our two entrées. I’m glad it didn’t take long because my husband and I were hungry, to say the least….Let’s just say the lemon wedges in our iced teas were beginning to look like a ‘snack’ before our dinner.

Check out what the server brought us! This steak could easily be mistaken for one at an a la carte steak house. Not too shabby, eh? It was a nice portion, not too large and not an appetizer, either. If you can imagine the savory-ness of a nice steak paired with the crunch of perfectly cooked broccoli…that’s what we got. My favorite bites were the ones that had been exposed to the flame for a couple seconds longer; there’s something about that ‘grill-taste’ that is so addicting. Three hundred and eighty calories never tasted so good.

On to the salmon:

To be honest, when I thought of ordering salmon at ‘Sizzler,’ I was a bit apprehensive; simply because fish isn’t what I think of when I eat at an establishment that has an all you can eat salad bar. I’m glad I went against gut instinct.

After squeezing the almighty lemon wedge, I took the first bite. Flakey on the inside and grill marks on the outside. I think the natural sugars in the salmon gave the outer skin a nice caramelized taste. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the preparation: salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon. Delicious and tender to the last bite. The only thing that could have made this meal more impressive would have been a pianist playing a Beethoven classical masterpiece in the corner of the dining room.

The dinner tonight was affordable, costing no more than $30 for two adult portions, one all you can eat salad bar, and two drinks. Try ordering these items at a typical steak house for less than $40; it’s not going to happen. My 6’2” husband and I left feeling full and satisfied knowing we shared two Healthy Dining-approved entrées. Sizzler is a winner-winner steak and salmon dinner!

So, there you go. You can be on a budget and still eat healthy options without compromising taste, menu items, and quality.
