Does dietary fat fit as part of a healthy diet and exercise plan?
Don’t neglect dietary fat as part of your active and healthy lifestyle. Despite the fact that it’s been demonized over recent decades as part of a non-fat and low-fat trend, dietary fat is a crucial part of a healthy diet, particularly if you’re active.
A few things to know about dietary fat:
The anti-inflammatory benefits of dietary fats are tremendous. This means inflammation is reduced by the protective qualities of fats, primarily the plant-based fats, and this means lower risk of injury.
Plant-based fats such as olive oil and nuts are a good choice for unsaturated fats, which have been shown to have additional health benefits vs. saturated fats.
Adequate amounts of dietary fat in your meals can prevent, delay onset or aid in healing when it comes to injury.
Aim for your dietary fat intake to be at least 30% of total calories consumed.
